Projects
Ongoing Projects (2020–2021)
-
Beach-to-Bin Policy: Working extensively with Councilmember Joe LaCava’s office and community organizations, such as the Surfrider Foundation, Coastkeeper SD, and the Audubon Society of SD, to put in place fishing line recycling bins. The goal is to provide a secure place for fishermen to properly dispose of fishing line, keep plastic out of the ocean, and ship the material off to be recycled. There is currently one bin in Pacific Beach and we are looking to set up more throughout the city.
-
Young Students and Professionals Housing Advisory Council: In collaboration with SDSU, and through discussions with Councilmembers Joe LaCava and Sean Elo-Rivera, the Triton Lobby Corps is pushing for the creation of a Housing Advisory Council, under the umbrella of a revived San Diego Youth Council. TLC hopes to establish a formal board that can raise young people’s voices in the city’s housing policies, conduct research to increase housing affordability and availability, and make recommendations to the SD City Council and Housing Commission.
-
LGBTQIA+ Inclusive Language Working Group: Member of a working group brought together by the offices of Councilmember Raul Campillo and Council President Jennifer Campbell. The working group is discussing removing all gender binary language from the city’s laws, codes, and documents.
